PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Product Description

ACE Angle Compensation Receiver for Excavator & Backhoe Fleets

The Apache Bullseye 6 (ATI991320-02) is a professional-grade laser machine display receiver engineered specifically for excavation and trenching operations where dipper arm angle constantly changes. Traditional receivers require manual grade corrections every time the arm moves — the Bullseye 6 eliminates that entirely with ACE (Angle Compensation for Excavation) technology, automatically recalculating grade in real time as the arm swings between fully extended and retracted positions up to ±30°. The result is faster cycle times, fewer grade errors, and a significant reduction in rework on every dig.

Overview & Jobsite Applications

Designed for excavator and backhoe operators working in utility installation, foundation excavation, pond and retention basin construction, and finish grading, the Bullseye 6 mounts directly to the dipper arm and communicates with a rotating laser transmitter already established on site. Its large, high-visibility LED display gives the operator instant cut/fill feedback from inside the cab without requiring a grade checker on the ground. Whether you are running a fleet of machines on a large earthmoving project or a single excavator on a residential utility cut, the Bullseye 6 delivers the precision and speed that keeps jobs on schedule.

  • Dual-Sided LED Display: Visible from cab and from the ground simultaneously for crew coordination
  • One-Button Operation: Simplified controls reduce operator learning curve and distraction
  • Broadband Laser Reception: Accepts both red and IR laser signals for compatibility across major laser brands
  • IP66 Weatherproof Housing: Sealed against rain, dust, and muddy jobsite washdowns
  • Plumb Reference Indicator: Verify machine and receiver vertical alignment independently of the laser
  • USB-C Rechargeable Battery: Eliminates AA battery costs and reduces downtime for battery swaps
  • Universal Mounting Bracket: Fits most excavator and backhoe dipper arm profiles with no special tools

Job Applications

Utility Trench Excavation: Maintain consistent pipe-bed grade on sewer, water, and conduit trenches as the arm extends into the cut without stopping to re-check grade manually.

Foundation & Footing Excavation: Hit design depth on spread footings and continuous foundations in fewer passes, reducing over-excavation and costly backfill.

Retention Pond & Drainage Basin Grading: Hold precise slopes on large earthen basins where the arm angle changes dramatically across the work face.

Road Subgrade Preparation: Work alongside motor graders and compactors to bring subgrade to design elevation quickly and accurately before base aggregate placement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Bullseye 6 work with my existing rotating laser transmitter?
The Bullseye 6 is compatible with most major-brand rotating lasers operating at 635–680 nm (red) or 780 nm (infrared) wavelengths. This covers the majority of grade lasers from Spectra, Topcon, Leica, and Trimble. If you are unsure about compatibility with a specific transmitter model, contact our team at Express Tools before ordering.
What does ACE angle compensation actually do on the jobsite?
When your dipper arm angle changes as you dig — from fully extended at the bottom of a cut to retracted near the machine — the receiver's mounting angle relative to the laser beam changes. Without ACE, the display would show a false grade reading. The Bullseye 6 uses an internal inclinometer to measure the arm angle and mathematically correct the laser intercept in real time, so the display always shows true cut or fill relative to design grade regardless of arm position.
How is the Bullseye 6 mounted to the excavator?
The receiver ships with a universal dipper arm bracket that clamps to the arm using standard hardware. No welding or permanent modification is required. The bracket adjusts to fit most arm profiles and can be transferred between machines in the fleet. Alignment and tilt adjustments are made by hand with thumb screws for fast setup.
What is the battery life and how is it charged?
The internal rechargeable battery provides a full shift of operation — typically 10 to 12 hours — on a single charge. Charging is handled via the integrated USB-C port, compatible with standard USB-C power adapters and power banks. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours. The receiver will also display a low-battery warning well before shutdown so operators are not caught off guard mid-shift.

Why This Equipment

Large Capture Window

Wide detection zone catches the laser beam at distance without precise aiming.

Radio Compatibility

Pairs directly with compatible transmitters for wireless grade control.

Jobsite Tough

Rubber-armored housing rated for drops, dust, and continuous outdoor use.

Grade Resolution

Fine grade detection down to 1/16" — the precision your job spec requires.

Why Buy This?

The right receiver extends your laser. A lot.

Most rotary and grade lasers ship without a receiver — because different jobs need different detection windows. A standard handheld receiver works for grading and site layout. Machine-mount receivers survive dozer and scraper duty.

Matching receiver to laser matters: grade resolution, radio compatibility, and capture-height window all affect how accurately you can work at distance. Using a mismatched receiver is the leading cause of grade errors that pass QC but fail inspection.

Express Tools stocks the receivers your laser manufacturer recommends — not just what fits in the box. We can tell you exactly which receiver pairs with your existing laser if you call.
