What is the accuracy of a pipe laser?

Can I use a rotary laser instead of a pipe laser for sewer work?

No — a rotary laser cannot replace a pipe laser for in-trench sewer installation. A rotary laser projects an external horizontal plane; the crew has to translate that reading to in-pipe grade manually using a target or rod. A pipe laser projects directly inside the pipe, giving the machine operator and crew a continuous, real-time grade and alignment reference.
